Studies suggest that soaking in a hot tub before bedtime can ease the shift into a deeper, more restful sleep. This is probably due to the temperature shift when the body's core internal temperature drops when you leave the water. This tells the body it's time to snooze. Some experts believe the sleep benefits of hot tubs are also related to hot water's relaxing and buoyant properties. They relieve pressure on joints and muscles, creating a sense of weightlessness and relaxation. The hot, swirling water leaves you feeling both mentally and emotionally relaxed, and so you drift off to a spa slumber quicker and enjoy a deeper sleep.
