September 22, 2006, Newsletter Issue #20: Spas Offer Energy Efficient Features

Tip of the Week

Spas are insulated, and good spa covers are insulated too. This helps maintain a more constant temperature in the spa and keeps more heat inside where you want it, enhancing your spa's energy efficiency. Today's spas can be heated by gas, electricity, or even propane, so you can choose the energy source you want that's the most economical for your area. Some spa manufacturers are making real efforts to create energy saving spas. They are including features like extra insulation, energy efficient heaters and filtration systems, and even LED lighting which uses much less electricity than regular lighting. All of these features add up to spas that are much cheaper to operate than they used to be.
