June 23, 2006, Newsletter Issue #9: Chemical Imbalance Can Damage the Equipment

Tip of the Week

Keeping your hot tub's water balance is crucial for overall health and cleanliness, but it's also especially important for the equipment. Water with too high an alkalinity content or too low a pH can corrode and damage the filter, heater, and other metal parts, which means you'll need to replace them sooner. Water that's out of balance can also harm your skin and harbor bacteria and germs. It may sound daunting at first, but keeping the water healthy really doesn't take a lot of effort. You just need to test it each week and add some chemicals if necessary. It's actually much more stressful and demanding to have to deal with water that's out of balance and has been for a long time. So, test your water every week, add the proper spa chemicals, and sit back and enjoy the sparkling clear water you love!
